The Bible

Psalms 4: 1 (to : ), 8

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness:
8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

Psalms 42: 8 (the)

8 the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Psalms 46: 2-3 (to .), 10 (to : )

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
10 Be still, and know that I am God:

Mark 3: 7 (Jesus) (to : )

7  Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea:

Mark 4: 35-40

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?

John 14: 1, 18 (2nd I), 27

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
18 I will come to you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Isaiah 54: 11 (to 4th ,)

11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold,

Isaiah 51: 6, (to 1st ,) 10-13 (to ;), 16 (2nd I), 22 (Behold) (to 4th ,) and (thou)

6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?
11 Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;
13 And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth;
16 … I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand,
22 Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, ….thou shalt no more drink it again:

Daniel 10: 19 (O) (to 1st .)

19 O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong.

Acts 19: 11

11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

Acts 20: 9-10, 12 (to ,) 22, 24

9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
12 And they brought the young man alive,
22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Philippians 4: 6-9

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Miscellaneous Writings

124: 12(who) – 19

“who is so great a God as our God!” unchangeable, all-wise, all-just, all-merciful; the ever-loving, ever-living Life, Truth, Love: comforting such as mourn, opening the prison doors to the captive, marking the unwinged bird, pitying with more than a father’s pity; healing the sick, cleansing the leper, raising the dead, saving sinners. As we think thereon, man’s true sense is filled with peace, and power;

263: 12 – 14

Always bear in mind that His presence, power, and peace meet all human needs and reflect all bliss.

Miscellany

278: 23

Peace is the promise and reward of rightness.

279: 7

The Principle of Christian Science demonstrates peace.

Retrospection and Introspection

60: 11-20

Christian Science reveals God and His idea as the All and Only. It declares that evil is the absence of good; whereas, good is God ever-present, and therefore evil is unreal and good is all that is real. Christian Science saith to the wave and storm, “Be still,” and there is a great calm. Material sense asks, in its ignorance of Science, “When will the raging of the material elements cease?” Science saith to all manner of disease, “Know that God is all-power and all-presence, and there is nothing beside Him;” and the sick are healed.

Miscellany

121: 7- 13

In metaphysics we learn that the strength of peace and of suffering is sublime, a true, tried mental conviction that is neither tremulous nor relapsing. This strength is like the ocean, able to carry navies, yet yielding to the touch of a finger. This peace is spiritual; never selfish, stony, nor stormy, but generous, reliable, helpful, and always at hand.

Miscellaneous Writings

133: 26-31

In the midst of depressing care and labor I turn constantly to divine Love for guidance, and find rest. It affords me great joy to be able to attest to the truth of Jesus’ words. Love makes all burdens light, it giveth a peace that passeth understanding, and with “signs following.”

Message for 1902

19: 26; 30-3(np)

The great Master triumphed in furnace fires.

Christ walketh over the wave; on the ocean of events, mounting the billow or going down into the deep, the voice of him who stilled the tempest saith, “It is I; be not afraid.”

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures

323: 6-9

Through the wholesome chastisements of Love, we are helped onward in the march towards righteousness, peace, and purity, which are the landmarks of Science.

Miscellaneous Writings

276: 31-7 (np)

In the dark hours, wise Christian Scientists stand firmer than ever in their allegiance to God. Wisdom is wedded to their love, and their hearts are not troubled.

Falsehood is on the wings of the winds, but Truth will soar above it. Truth is speaking louder, clearer, and more imperatively than ever. Error is walking to and fro in the earth, trying to be heard above Truth, but its voice dies out in the distance.

277: 13-14; 23-28

The stake and scaffold have never silenced the messages of the Most High.

No evidence before the material senses can close my eyes to the scientific proof that God, good, is supreme. Though clouds are round about Him, the divine justice and judgment are enthroned. Love is especially near in times of hate, and never so near as when one can be just amid lawlessness, and render good for evil.

No and Yes

8: 3-9

We should endeavor to be long-suffering, faithful, and charitable with all. To this small effort let us add one more privilege — namely, silence whenever it can substitute censure. Avoid voicing error; but utter the truth of God and the beauty of holiness, the joy of Love and “the peace of God, that passeth all understanding,” recommending to all men fellowship in the bonds of Christ.

Miscellaneous Writings

152: 6 – 10

Of this we may be sure: that thoughts winged with peace and love breathe a silent benediction over all the earth, cooperate with the divine power, and brood unconsciously o’er the work of His hand.

Miscellany

223: 28 (divine)-29

…divine Love and wisdom saith, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Miscellaneous Writings

159: 7

May the God of all grace give you peace.
